Planning your event

What should you plan for?

Urdu audiences in Pakistan and India

Pakistan’s constitution names Urdu as its national language. The Government of India includes it among the languages in the Constitution’s Eighth Schedule.

For a programme involving these audiences, ask delegates who wants Urdu translation. Baian writes this output from right to left, so organisers should show the written form when explaining the reading option, alongside the available audio.

The اردو button leads to “آپ کیسے تجربہ کرنا چاہیں گے؟”. Guests select سنیں to listen or پڑھیں to read, and the phone screens are in Urdu. Written translation is right to left; spoken translation plays through the attendee’s headphones.

Urdu speech can also be translated into other supported languages. Record presenters’ speaking languages separately from requests for Urdu translation, especially when delegations want to follow the same speech in different languages.
