Planning your event

What should you plan for?

Portuguese across several regional institutions

It is official in Portugal and Brazil and has been an EU official language since 1986. Mercosur names Spanish and Portuguese as official working languages. ECOWAS names English, French and Portuguese as working languages.

The African Union’s official-language list includes “Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Kiswahili and any other African language.” Anglo American’s 2025 shareholder page also lists a Spanish and Portuguese simultaneous-translation Q&A facility, giving a specific corporate setting for these two audience languages.

Português puts the listener choice in Portuguese

The question “Como você gostaria de acompanhar?” follows the Português selection. Attendees use Ouvir for listening or Ler for reading. The interface uses the language selected, so the guest can choose translated audio or text without navigating English instructions.
