Planning your event

What should you plan for?

Korean and Hangeul in public documents

The Republic of Korea’s Framework Act on the Korean Language defines Korean as the country’s official language and Hangeul as the alphabetic letters used to write it. These definitions are in Article 3 of the Act.

Article 14 requires public institutions to prepare public documents written in Hangeul. It also allows Chinese characters or other foreign letters in parentheses in prescribed cases. For a public-sector audience, use these precise language roles to describe who needs the translation.

한국어 opens the Korean question and controls

A Korean-speaking guest selects 한국어 and sees “어떻게 이용하시겠습니까?”. 듣기 chooses listening and 읽기 chooses reading. The listener interface is in Korean, with audio or written translation available from the same language selection.
