Planning your event

What should you plan for?

Spanish listeners following an Arabic summit speech

At Doha’s GEM Summit on 29 January 2026, Baian translated Dr Nayef Bin Nahar’s Arabic speech into Spanish among eight output languages. Attendees used phones and the venue’s large screen to follow the session.

The event also used human interpreters, who worked there alongside Baian.

Español opens the Spanish choices

The listener’s next screen asks ‘¿Cómo prefieres seguir la sesión?’ after they choose Español. Escuchar selects audio and Leer selects text. The interface stays in their chosen language as the attendee follows the Arabic speaker.

Two UN official languages, one speaking direction

Arabic and Spanish are official UN languages. When an event brings these audiences together, specify which talks use Arabic and whether Spanish questions will also need translation for the chair.
